Charles A. Prussing, age 89 of Fountain City, WI died April 5, 2014 at Winona Manor, Winona, MN. Charles was born January 2, 1925 to Alex and Hattie (Schaffner) Prussing in Fountain City, WI. After graduating from High School, Charles attended Winona State University for two years before enlisting in the U. S. Army. He served in WWll in the Philippines. Upon returning home, Charles worked for the Winona Tool Factory. On August 23, 1947 Charles married the love of his life, Virginia Meili in Cochrane, WI. He soon began working for the family car business, A.C. Prussing & Son. After sometime Charles acquired the auto dealership where he owned and operated it until his retirement when he sold it in 1978. He and his wife continued to live in Fountain City where Charles was an avid member and church council president of St. John’s United Church of Christ. Charles was also a proud member of the American Legion for 69 years. His other notable organization that he belonged to for 65 years was the Buffalo River Masonic Lodge where he had earned the position of Master Mason. Charles was a part of the Fountain City Volunteer Fire Department where he had served as the assistant chief. Charles enjoyed his leisure time fishing, hunting, antique collecting and gardening. Charles is survived by his children Steven (Susan) Prussing of Fountain City, WI, and Susan (Richard) Stirn of Rochester, MN. His grandchildren Micah (Amanda) Prussing, Aaron (fiancée Miccki Moga) Prussing, Kyle (Susan) Stirn, and Krista (Garrett) Snow. His great grandchildren Malayna Mae Snow, Alexander Micah Prussing, Penelope Jean Snow, and Raimason Charles Prussing. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Virginia, his infant son Gerald Allen, and his sister Harriet Prussing. A memorial gathering to celebrate his life will be at St. John’s United Church of Christ on Wednesday April 9 at 5:00PM to 7:00PM and again one hour prior to the service on Thursday April 10 at 11:00AM also at the church.
