Cathy "Stretch" Weiss

Cathy “Stretch” Weiss, age 59, of Mondovi, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 in the comfort of her own home while surrounded by her loving family She was born on March 26, 1956 at Gillette Hospital in Mondovi, a daughter of Joyce SchultzTrusler and the late Macken Trusler. Stretch attended Mondovi Schools, graduating from Mondovi High School with the class of 1974. She furthered her education at CVTC in Eau Claire graduating with a degree as an x-ray technician. On October 25, 1980, Stretch was united in marriage to Greg Weiss at Our Savior’s United Methodist Church in Mondovi. To this union, two loving daughters were born. Stretch enjoyed a career that spanned 35 years in the field she trained for, an x-ray tech and later as am MRI tech as well. The majority of her career was spent with Chippewa Valley Orthopedic and Sports Medicine. Her commitment and dedication to her profession and stellar work ethic was an attribute she instilled and passed on to her daughters. In the early years of parenthood, Stretch and her family would love to spend weekends boating the Mississippi River. As her children grew, she and her husband purchased a cabin in Spooner where 4-wheeling, kayaking and boating were amongst the activities they shared with family and friends. Stretch will be remembered as a care free and happy lady with an infectious smile and outgoing personality and if you heard the name “Stretch” you knew who she was. She loved being out on the dance floor and holding up her signature “Peace Sign” and always put the needs of others in front of her own needs The greatest gifts that Stretch could have ever received was given to her four times…her precious grandchildren She will be sadly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of her husband, Greg of Mondovi; two daughters, Brooke (Kurtiss) Olson of Marshfield, WI and Bridget (Cole) Segerstrom of Mondovi; four precious grandchildren, Sophia and Emmitt Olson and Gavin and Lauren Segerstrom; mother, Joyce Trusler of Mondovi; sisters, Susan (Cal) Trusler-Scharf of Eau Claire and Mary (Robert) Marten of Modena; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a litany of friends. Stretch was preceded in death by her dad, Macken Trusler and her father in law, Felix C. Weiss. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Stretch will be held on Friday October 30, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Our Savior’s United Methodist Church in Mondovi with Pastor Dale Engen officiating. A private family inurnment service will be at Oak Park Cemetery in Mondovi at a later date. A memorial gathering will be held on Friday from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service all at the church.
