Bobby D. Rieck, age 79, of Pepin, WI passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Franciscan Skemp Hospital, La Crosse, WI surrounded by family. He was born on February 13, 1937 in Lynxville, WI a son of the late Albert “Pete” and Violet (Peterson) Rieck. He attended Alma Area Schools, graduating in 1955.
On June 12, 1965 Bobby married Cleo DeMarce. To this union, two children were born. They later divorced. Bobby honorably served his country as a dedicated member of the United States Air Force. Bobby worked for the US Corps of Engineers, a career that he proudly held until a heart attack forced him into early retirement.
He will be remembered for his love of the outdoors and hunting, deer, small game, field birds, but especially duck hunting. He has passed on his love for duck hunting to two of his grandsons. Bobby was an avid gardener and had purchased a parcel of land to hunt, and to garden. Often in warmer months Bobby and his precious furry companion, Duke, could be found out working in the garden. Bobby will be remembered for his love of being a grandpa. He enjoyed teaching his grandchildren to love the outdoors.
Survived by his two children, Gary Rieck, of Miles City, MT and Mary (Shawn) Lund of Lino Lakes, MN; six grandchildren, Matthew, Desiree and Bryton, Barry, Juanita and Lane; one great grandson, Parker; three brothers, Donald (Myrna) of Jordan, MN, Albert (Peg) of Cottage Grove, MN and Neil of Pepin, WI; also by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Alma Chapel with Pastor Lisa Weaver officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 from 4-7 PM and again on Wednesday one hour prior to the service, all at the funeral home.
