Beverly Ann Stevens, age 79 of Pepin, formerly of Alma, WI died January 28, 2013 at Pepin Manor. She was born February 12, 1933 to Irving and Minnie (Mingle) Wenger in Alma. She graduated from Alma High school. Beverly Ann married Durward “Steve” Stevens, to this union two sons were born. Beverly and Durwood lived in the Minneapolis area after their marriage, but would often come down to Alma to visit, taking the Amtrak to the old Alma Depot. When they moved back to Alma in 1972, Beverly and her husband purchased and operated the Lucky Seven Tavern until 1978. They were very proud of the Lucky Seven softball team which they often traveled to watch, and cheer them on. Beverly loved playing cards and spending time with family at gatherings and holidays. She worked at various businesses in the area, such as the Red Ram, the Burlington, and the Alma Hotel. She also helped her son Greg “Tater” milk at the Neitzel Farm, and in the later years at his bar, the Dam View until her health forced her to stop in 2003. Beverly took pride in her long time membership in the American Legion Auxiliary. She will be sadly missed by her two sons, Greg “Tater” (Janine “Beaner”) of Alma, and Michael (Jenny) of Durand. Her six grandchildren; Shauna, Brad, Michaela, Megan, Tristan, and Cole. Three great grandchildren; Conner, Raelyn, and Tyler. Her brother; LaVele (Betty) Wenger, her sister; Joyce (Dennis) Hart, and her brother in law; Robert Wittig. Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, her brother LaVerne and his wife Dorothy Wenger, her sisters; Bernetha and her husband Herbert Ruff, Delores and her husband Gordy Hopf, Eunice Huntley, and Eldona Wittig.
A Memorial gathering will be at Talbot Family Funeral Home in Alma on Thursday January 31 at 4:00 – 7:00PM and again one hour prior to the memorial service at 10:00AM on Friday February 1, also at the Funeral Home. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.talbotfuneralhomes.com
