Betty M. Sabelko

Betty M. Sabelko, age 91 of Mondovi, Wisconsin, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2024.

Betty was born on March 17, 1933, in Dunn Country, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of Alex and Bessie (Hite) Kadinger. She grew up on their family farm in Dunnville. She attended St. Henry’s School in Eau Galle and graduated from Durand High School.

Betty worked at Plum City Hospital for two years before marrying Harold Sabelko. They were married on November 24, 1953, at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Eau Galle. Harold and Betty lived on his family’s farm until he was drafted into the Army in 1955. After leaving the Army in 1957, they bought a home in Red Cedar. In 1962, they bought a dairy farm on Steinke Road in Mondovi where they raised their eight children.  After Harold’s passing Betty moved in with her daughter Audrey and her husband Jeff and lived there until her passing.

Betty was proud of the beautiful family they had raised, and she enjoyed spending time with them, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Betty enjoyed gardening. She always had a large garden filled with fruits and vegetables. She also planted many beautiful flowers throughout the farm. Betty loved to play cards, board games, and put together puzzles.

Betty had a strong faith and was an active member at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Mondovi.

Betty is survived by her children, Roger (Bev) of Mondovi,  Elaine Bauer of Fall Creek,  Harold Jr. (Amy) of River Falls,  Audrey (Jeff) Johnson of Mondovi,  Bonnie Brantner (Bill Siewert) of Eau Claire,  John (Wendy) of Mondovi,  LuAnn (Chris) Bauer of Mondovi,  and Bryan (Heidi) of Eau Claire; 17 grandchildren, Carrie, Timothy, Scott, Stacy, Chad, Ryan, Amanda, Heather, Tiffany, Jeremy, Joshua, Nicole, Bethany, Kayla, Brittany, Rebecca, and Eric; 35 great-grandchildren; sister Dianna (Tony) Gullickson of Clovis, CA; and other relatives and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Harold Sabelko; brothers Alex Kadinger Jr.  and Paul Kadinger; sisters Gloria (Frank) Hince, Rose (Newell) Herum, Josephine (LeRoy) Keenlyne, and Ramona (Wayne) Messex-Borre; sisters-in-law, Iona Poeschel, Laura (Edmond) Hayden, and Evelyn (Bernard) Heit; sons-in-law, John “Rooster” Rustad and John Miller; grandson-in-law John Allen.
