Barbara "Blondie" Meistad

Barbara Marie “Blondie” Meistad, age 66, of Mondovi, passed away on Saturday, November 26 at the American Lutheran Home of Mondovi with her loving and devoted family at her side. She was born on November14, 1945 in Eau Claire, a daughter of the late Orrin and Bertha (Berg) Stai. On January 2, 1966, Barbara was united in marriage to Gordon Meistad. To this union, three children were born. Barbara will be remembered by the surrounding communities as the owner and operator of “Blondie’s Restaurant in Mondovi, a restaurant she ran for 22 years. Blondie stayed active at the restaurant baking pies and other baked goods following the sale of the restaurant. Most recently, Blondie was employed at Gemini Home Health, based out of Eau Claire. She worked for Gemini until her illness forced her into early retirement. Blondie enjoyed word find puzzles, collecting Elvis memorabilia and baking. Blondie will forever remembered as a loving and kind lady with a giving heart. Her greatest love and concern…her family. She always, always put her children and grandchildren’s needs so far in front of her own. Her memory and legacy will live forever in the hearts of her entire family. Barbara will be sadly missed by her children, Kevin (Bobbie) Meistad of Cornell, Randy Meistad of Eau Claire and Lecia (Kevin Stamm) Long of Gilmanton; grandchildren, Jennifer Allen, Arica Allen, Brett Long, Danica Long and CallieRay Long; great grandchildren, Kendall Allen, Katryn Smith and Hannah Kinard; siblings, Joanne Robertson of Strum, Vivian (Jerry) Kilgore of Dublin, GA, Orrin (Kathy) Stai, Jr. of Mondovi, Richard (Debbie) Stai of Clarksville, TN, Ronald Stai of Little Chute, WI, John (Barb) Stai of Ontario, WI and Thomas (Robin) Stai of Huron, SD; sisters in law, Donna Mae Meistad, Phillis Thompson, Sharon Schuh, Mary Jane Evanson and Geraldine Meistad; one brother in law, Gary Meistad; also by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and dear friends. Besides her parents, her husband Gordon; two brothers, Duwayne and Robert; two sisters, Patricia Stai and Dianne Schwartz; brothers in law, Tony Robertson; Oscar (Leota) Meistad along with other family members, preceded Barbara in death. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Blondie will be held on Wednesday, November 30 at 11:00 AM at Talbot-Poeschel Funeral Home, Mondovi. Chaplain Gary Preston will preside. Inurnment will follow at Gilmanton Cemetery. A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, November 29 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Wednesday one hour prior to the service.
