Barbara Joy Ganz, age 58, of Alma, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Wabasha. She was born on July 24, 1958 in Wabasha, MN a daughter of Vernon and Norma (Dierks) Stone. Barb attended Alma Schools, graduating from Alma High School with the class of 1976. She then attended UW-River Falls. On May 17, 1980, Barb was united in marriage to Donald Ganz II at St. Paul and St. Luke United Church of Christ in Alma. To this union, one son, Donald Ganz III was born.
Barb was employed at Fibrite in Winona for 10 years. She then began a career that spanned 28 years at Dairyland Power in Alma where she was the only female in Dairyland Power to become a Senior Plant Operator. Barb was a life time member of the Alma Rod & Gun Club. She will be remembered as a devoted and avid Green Bay Packers fan, dressing in her Packers apparel for every game. Barb also loved to hunt, especially for turkey. Her most important role in her life was the day she became a grandma to two precious granddaughters. Barb love taking time to show her friends and family pictures taken of them on her phone.
Barb will be sadly missed by her husband of the past 37 years, Don, of Alma; her son, Donny (Jacinda) of Alma; two precious granddaughters, Rilynn and Jayce; her parents, Vernon and Norma Stone, of Alma; 4 siblings, Marjorie (Doug) Christofferson of Cloquet, MN, David (Patricia) Stone of Yukon, OK, Rebecca (Phil) Robertson of Cumberland, WI, Karen (David) Smith of Wind Lake, WI; mother in law, Joyce Ganz of Alma, and sister in law, Donnette (Corey) Mickelson of Ridgeland, WI; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, April 21 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Alma Chapel. A celebration to remember the life of Barb will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 starting at 1:00 PM at the Alma Rod & Gun Club. A private family graveside service will be held on Saturday at the Alma Public Cemetery.
