Arthur Peuse

Arthur (Art) E. Peuse age 81, of Altoona, formerly from Mondovi, WI, passed away on March 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.  Art was born June 3, 1943 to Ewald and Gertrude (Wangen) Peuse. Art was raised in Mondovi, attending Mondovi Public Schools. After graduation, he worked for the Mondovi Herald News. He then made a switch and joined Mondovi Cabinet Co. Art earned several certifications along the way which led him right back to the Mondovi School District, where he worked from the mid 1980’s to 2013. Arts’ dedication, strong work ethic, and determination led him to the position of Buildings and Grounds Supervisor before retirement.  Art married the love of his life and best friend, Vicki Anderson, on August 11, 1967 at Central Lutheran Church in Mondovi. To this union two children were born, Jodi and Blake. He was known for being a loving and supportive father.  Art dedicated a huge portion of his life to the Mondovi Fire Department, where he tirelessly served his community for 40 years, eventually becoming the assistant chief. He took great pride in being a longstanding member of the Mondovi Fire Department and made an impact that will live on.  In Art's spare time, you could find him bowling, playing church league softball, woodworking, hunting or fishing. What Art loved most, later in life, was being a grandpa. You could find him attending all events that his grandkids participated in. It was rare that he wasn’t at their events, even attending a ukulele concert for one.  Remaining to cherish Art’s memory are his spouse, Vicki; children, Jodi (Dean) Gobrecht and Blake (Christy) Peuse; grandchildren, Lukas (Fiancé Morgan) Gobrecht, Sydni Gobrecht, and Delaney (Jaden) Kamine; brother, Jerome Peuse; sister, Patricia (Hu) Kent; Sisters-in-law Delores Morley and Ruth Morley. Several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.  Preceding Art in death are, parents, Gertrude (Wanger) and Ewald Peuse; brothers, Richard Morley, Raymond Morley, Ronald Morley and Philip Peuse; sisters, Doris Struck, Barbra Jansky, Darlene Peuse; and Sisters-in-law Barbra Peuse and Borg Morley.  Art’s family would like to extend a sincere and special thank you to The Classic at Hillcrest Greens and Moments Hospice for their care, kindness and support.  A memorial gathering will be held at Central Lutheran Church in Mondovi on Tuesday April 8, 2025 at 12:00 PM until the time of service at 2:00 PM. Chaplain Gary Preston and Pastor Mara Ehles-Iverson will officiate. A committal service will be held at Riverside Lutheran Cemetery in Mondovi.  In lieu of flowers, Art's wish, along with his family’s wish, was for support to be directed to Mayo Research for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) research, a cause close to their hearts, or Central Lutheran Church, Mondovi, WI.  Talbot Family Funeral Homes-Scenic Rivers Cremation Center assisted the family. www.talbotfuneralhomes.com
